Thomas Feiner

Born 1968 outside Gothenburg on the Swedish west coast. Parents of Russian and Polish origin. Thomas Feiner was the singer in the Swedish band Anywhen throughout the ‘90s. They released their debut LP, As We Know It, in 1993, and followed it with an eponymous album in 1996, produced by drummer and percussionist Michael Blair (Tom Waits, Elvis Costello).

Originally released 2001, The Opiates was to be the band’s third full-length album, and its last. A venture into more brooding and melancholic soundscapes, the album was partly recorded with the Polish Radio Symphony Orchestra. Whilst it began as a group effort, the band dissolved in the two years it took to complete the record – leaving Feiner to finish the project alone.

A revised version of the album was released in 2008 on David Sylvian’s Samadhisound, after Sylvian heard the original album and tracked Feiner down with an invitation to bring his work to the label. This also led to Feiner’s appearence on Steve Jansen’s ”Slope”.

In 2003 Feiner was commissioned to write music for the German film ”Love in Thoughts”. In 2011 he wrote the soundtrack for the German/Russian movie ”4 Days in May”. Feiner participated on the Talk Talk tribute album ”Spirit of Talk Talk”, released 2012, covering ”The Rainbow” together with Fyfe Dangerfield and Robbie Wilson.

Thomas Feiner currently resides with his family in Gothenburg and divides his time between music and graphics (creative retouch, CGI, illustration & photography).
