Tone Wood: Mirror Gloss Black finish

Mirror Gloss Black finish

Black is one of the most difficult colors, it just tends to amplify even the tiniest imperfections. The reflections of small light sources on a black finished object often show swirls and scratches which can hardly be seen on lighter color mirror gloss finishes. When you want that desired Steinway black shinny mirror you need to do an extra buffing step with ultra-fine buffing compound. The picture shows black a Gibson L5 from 1978.
